Gold up on weaker dollar ahead of ECB meeting

KUALA LUMPUR-Bursa Malaysia finished the morning session higher, impelled by acquiring support for chose heavyweights especially exchanging/benefit related shares, merchants said. 

At meal break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 5.23 focuses better at 1,637.7 from Wednesday's end of 1,632.47. 

The file opened 6.92 focuses higher at 1,639.3 and moved somewhere around 1,636.09 and 1,639.84 for the duration of the morning session. 

Gainers edged washouts 301 to 259 with 337 counters unaltered, 802 untraded and 24 others were suspended. 

Turnover remained at 494.36 million shares worth RM577.77 million. 

A merchant said the neighborhood bourse copied the positive pattern of its Asian companions, in the midst of rising raw petroleum costs. 

Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.97 for each penny to 18,676.69, South Korea's Kospi was 1.24 for every penny higher at 2,016.65, Singapore's Straits Times Index increased 0.5 for each penny to 2,974.71 and Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index expanded 0.3 for each penny to 5,281.4. 

Heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals and Sime Darby sacked four sen each to RM6.89 and RM8.15, separately, while Public Bank were level at RM19.64. 

Maybank shed one sen to RM7.88 and TNB facilitated six sen to RM13.92. 

Among actives, RGB International, Mycron and Anzo enhanced a large portion of a-sen each to 25 sen, 23 sen and 12 sen, individually, while JAG and Accsoft were level at 11 sen and 30.5 sen, separately. 

The FBM Emas Index expanded 38.72 focuses to 11,433.56, the FBMT100 Index rose 39.57 focuses to 11,172.25, the FBM Emas Shariah Index expanded 46.91 focuses to 11,979.65, the FBM Ace increased 33.37 focuses to 4,736.95 and the FBM 70 enhanced 60.4 focuses to 13,057.57. 


Area savvy, the Finance Index added 21.64 focuses to 14,301.35, the Industrial Index earned 4.01 focuses to 3,093.39 and the Plantation Index rose 26.45 focuses to 7,728.32.
